The Board of Trustees at University School of Nashville will hold a ceremony to inaugurate Amani Reed as our head of school at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17. Students, faculty, staff, and trustees will gather together on the Edgehill Campus for the one-hour event. Due to space constraints of our midtown campus, parents, families, alumni, and friends of USN can watch this event live at usn.org/director.
Samar Ali, Research Professor of Law & Political Science at Vanderbilt University and Co-Chair of Project on Unity & American Democracy, will deliver the keynote address.
Reed officially joined USN on July 1, 2022 as our 11th Director and the first person of color to lead the K-12 educational institution founded as Peabody Demonstration School in 1915. In a full circle moment, he comes to USN after serving as Head of The School at Columbia University and studying at Teachers College, where Peabody Demonstration School Founder Thomas Alexander created a progressive undergraduate experience to shape future educators. Columbia blue is the surviving tie of PDS/USN to the old University of Nashville.
This special event will alter lunchtime that day. Students in grades K-2 and 5-6 must bring a sack lunch and will eat either in their classrooms or outside. Lunch for other grades should be at their usual times in Sperling Cafeteria, and those students may go through the food service line
