The Tigers beat Franklin Road Academy 9-1 in their HVAC Tournament Semifinal game on Monday night. Harry Stahl led the way with another complete game stellar pitching performance and was supported by superb overall team defense. Eli Whelan sparked the offense with a home run. Luke Kleiner was also a difference maker with his hustle on the base paths and spirited leadership.
The Tigers won their final home game on Monday beating Harding Academy 9-0. A.J. Truss led the way with a solid complete game shutout pitching performance assisted by overall good team defense. The game remained close through the midway point until Luke Kleiner stole home and sparked a big rally. Harry Stahl’s keen batting eye lead to three walks and combined with aggressive base running and timely hitting by Henry Baxter, Ellie Shuster and A.J. the Tigers were able to push the lead to a comfortable margin. Asher Huffman also made a big contribution with his pinch running eventually taking home on a close play from a pass ball.
The Tigers fell short at Franklin Road Academy losing 7-5. The Tigers went into the last inning tied 5-5 but a combination of defensive lapses and timely hitting by FRA made USN fall behind and the Tigers were unable to mount a comeback in their last at bat. Harry Stahl pitched a solid complete game in the losing effort. Next up for the Tigers is a Monday, April17th home game against Harding Academy.
The Tigers hosted JT Moore Middle School yesterday at the River Campus. The nail biter, gutsy effort by the Tigers ended in a 5-5 tie as the hour and 45 minute time limit ended the game. Eli Whelan lead the way by holding JTM to 2 runs through 4 innings before being replaced in the last inning. The Tigers went into the final 5th inning leading 4-2 but the heart of JTM’s lineup erupted for 3 runs leaving the Tigers down by one. Henry Baxter lead off the final 5th inning with his second hit of the day by crushing a double to right field. Then down to our last out Luke Kleiner ripped a single and with his third RBI tied the game that ended on the next at bat. Wow!! Go Tigers!
