University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers Can't Quite Erase 9-Run Deficit in Loss to Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity

University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers fought back after falling down by nine runs in the fourth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 13-11 defeat to Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity on Thursday.  University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Harrison Fitzgibbon in the sixth and a grand slam by Townsend Stevenson in the seventh.
 
University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers fell behind early in the loss.  Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity scored on a walk by Rooney in the first inning, a grand slam by Peden in the first inning, a walk by Susano in the second inning, a single by Rooney in the second inning, and a walk by Purdy in the second inning.
 
Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity got things started in the first inning.  Rooney drew a walk, scoring one run.
 
University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers notched four runs in the seventh inning.  University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers scored its runs on an RBI grand slam by Stevenson.
 
Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity scored six runs in the second inning.  Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity batters contributing to the big inning included Susano, Rooney,  Bremer, Peden, and Purdy, all driving in runs in the frame.
 
Marino was the winning pitcher for Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity. The ace went two innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out one.  Bush, #20, and #34 all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
 
Alexander Peck toed the rubber for University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on four hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two.  Quinn Powers, Aidan Savona, and Mahoney Daunic each contributed in relief for University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers.
 
University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers tallied two home runs on the day. Stevenson put one out in the seventh inning. Fitzgibbon went deep in the sixth inning.
 
Fitzgibbon led University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers with two hits in three at bats.
 
Calmus went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Brentwood Academy Eagles Varsity in hits.
