9/13 Siegel Invitational -

After our favorite early-season race was cancelled (subtracted out, Dr. Fitz) last weekend, we pivoted and squeezed into an already-full Siegel Invitational in Murfreesboro this weekend.

The meet was held on a beautiful former golf course, and, as part of course design, no golf course is ever flat - the course offered constant ups and downs, making it quite challenging. Still, we were there for the challenge and to get a good honest effort in.

The girls rolled out first at a bright and early 7:30am, with Madeleine Wiseman taking her spot near the front of the race from the gun (actually a static megaphone). As she has for three years, Madeleine stayed near the front, finishing in 6th place. Not far behind were Jackie Seale and Norah Harrison, and strong second races from Julia Young and Sydney Lasher helped the Tigers finish 4th out of 15 teams.

The boys were without last race's top performer Griffin Davidson and usual varsity runner Caleb Little, but were still more than competitive. With the Fab 4 down to the terrific trio, Drew Zwerner (4th), Caleb Freifeld (6th), and Jack Fruin (8th) led the team to a 3rd place out of 17 teams. Ably supporting the team was James Little in another PR performance, even on a tough course, and some varsity debuts from Chase Ginsberg, Morgan McAteer, and Christopher Nichols.

The JV races were also exciting, with numerous PRs, and some really strong debut performances from Elliott Carlson (who finished 9th in the race) and Greenlee Davidson.

The teams celebrated Bennett Paddon's birthday afterwards, and we now turn our attention to our race next weekend in Dickson.

Full meet results available here.
