Beautiful Tribute Match Night at USN

The Tigers hosted Goodpasture Christian School for their special memorial night to remember the late fitness center director, William B. Scott. The night was absolutely beautiful and such a wonderful way to remember how much Coach Scott meant to USN athletics. Goodpasture, ranked first in the district, was the match of the season for the Tigers. The Tigers were ready to play for Coach Scott! The match exciting from start to finish. Big hits, blocks and strong defense from both side of the net. The Cougars pulled out a victory in the first set winning by just 2 points, 24-26. The Tigers were not going to roll over. The Tigers pulled out a second set win, 25-20. With the match tied up, and both teams playing great, all fans and coaches were on the edge of their seats with anticipation. The Cougars won set 3, 20-25 and the Tigers won set 4, 27-25. This was the first 5 set match that the Tigers had had this season. With emotions running high, the Tigers struggled to keep the same level of play during the 5th set. With a handful of early errors, the 5th set was too short for the Tigers to make a comeback. The Cougars took home the victory and held onto their 1st place seed (8-15). The Tigers did not hang their heads. Although they really wanted the win, they have their fingers crossed to meet GCS again for a rematch in the district tournament.
