State success!

For the first time ever, the Tennessee state championships were held in Memphis, but some things remain the same - USN Tigers near the front of the field. 
 
The short version: the boys, led by All-State performances from Jack Fruin and Griffin Davidson and bolstered by more depth than any other team, finished as State Runners-Up! For the girls, Madeleine Wiseman was also All-State and Jackie Seale ran well despite recent illness. 
 
The boys were the first to toe the line, and despite a season of setbacks and obstacles, were resolute and optimistic. With five of the fifteen competing  teams each having a chance for the top spot, the race was wide open, and all the top teams had a few runners near the front - Jack and Griffin would both finish in the top 10. But it was USN’s depth - led by Drew Zwerner gamely competing despite respiratory illness - that made the difference. Caleb Freifeld, Caleb Little, and James Little all moved up multiple places in the second half to secure a narrow three-point margin over third place. Mario Tedeschi also finished in the top half of the field in his final HS race. 
 
Madeleine was well-positioned inside the top 10 all race, and she, despite being stuck between lack of runners ahead and behind, managed her efforts well and even in isolation ran a great race. Jackie was tucked into a large pack of runners from the top schools and did a wonderful job competing with them, culminating in a strong finish. 
 
The teams and coaches are grateful for all you have done in supporting us through the season. The hardware we bring home is in part yours - thank you for all the help and support!

  • Spring sports season ends with podium finishes, trophies

    The girls lacrosse team ended its season in overtime to become state runner-up. Tennis players Carter Kojetin '29 finished as a state quarterfinalist, Sophie Oliver '26 and Mary Kate Adler '28 finished as state semifinalists, and Veer Kodali '29 and Max Parker '29 finished as state champions. Meanwhile, eight runners competed at the state track and field meet in Knoxville, where Griffin Davidson '27, Caleb Freifeld '28, Drew Zwerner '28, and Jack Fruin '27, sprinted to first in the 4x800m relay and Jack also placed first in the 800m dash.
