USN falls to MTCS

University School of Nashville Tigers could not keep up with MTCS 11-6 on Monday. USN got on the board in the first inning after Alexander Peck hit a solo home run to left field. MTS would tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd on—a sacrifice fly. The Tigers would take the lead back in the top of the 3rd on a passed ball to go up 2-1.

A wild pitch in the bottom of the 3rd would allow MTCS to tie the game again, making the score 2-2. USN would manufacture a rally in the top of the 4th when senior Dylan Washko would lead off with a single. Eli Whelan '28 would lay down a successful sacrifice bunt and advance Dylan to 3rd base. Junior Carson Darr would follow suit with an RBI bunt to give USN the lead 3-2.

USN would add to their lead in the top of the 5th with back-to-back singles by senior Joseph Ozenne and freshman AJ Truss. With runners on the corners, senior Grant Reilly would deliver a sacrifice fly to pad the USN lead to 4-2.

MTCS would break through in a big way in the bottom of the 5th, scoring eight runs to put the game away. The Tigers fought hard but came up a play or two short of pulling off the upset against top-seeded MTCS.
