USN beats Pope John Paul II

The USN Tigers were triumphant over JP2 4-2 on Friday at Pope. JP2 got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after a sacrifice fly and a balk by pitcher Charles Cook '27. USN would trail 2-0 until the top of the 7th.

AJ Truss '27 would draw a walk down to their last three outs to start the inning. A single by Alexander Peck '25 would put runners on 1st and 3rd with one out. Dylan Washko '24 would step to the plate next, deliver a single to score AJ and move Alexander to 2nd base. Andrew Walker '26 would draw a walk to load the bases, and Mahoney Daunic '24 would draw a walk of his own, scoring Alexander to tie the game. Dylan would score during Eli Whelan '28 at-bat on a wild pitch to give the Tigers the lead 3-2. With two outs in the 7th, Pope pitchers would walk Carson Darr '25 and Joseph Ozenne '24 to push another run across the plate.

The Tigers would hold on to win 4-2. Starting pitcher Charles Cook would go 4.0 innings before being relieved by Andrew (1.2 IP); AJ would eventually collect his first career W in relief, tossing the final 1.1 innings.
