USN defeated by Overton HS

USN could not keep pace with Overton, falling 5-4 on Thursday at the River Campus. Overton got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one. USN jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Grant Reilly '24 doubled, and Overton committed an error of their own to make the score 2-1.

Overton would plate a run in the top of the 2nd to tie and take the lead in the top of the 4th, capitalizing on a USN error to make the score 3-2. The Bobcats would add an insurance run at the top of the 5th to extend their lead to 4-2. Grant would double home AJ Truss '27 to cut the lead to 4-3 going into the top of the 6th. Overton would plate the crucial 5th run in the top of the 6th on a pass ball.

In the bottom of the 7th, trailing by two, Alexander Peck '25 would crush a solo home run to cut the lead to one, but the Tigers would fall short before tying it up.
