University School of Nashville Tigers Secure Win Against Brentwood Academy

USN went on the road Wednesday afternoon, March 6th, and beat Brentwood Academy 8-7. The Tigers got off to a hot start in the first with a leadoff single from Joseph Ozenne ‘24 and a homerun by Alexander Peck ‘25. Brentwood would answer back in the bottom of the first and second to go ahead 4-2. USN would retake the lead at the top of the 3rd with a four-run rally. In the inning, the Tigers would capitalize on great small-ball offense. After Mahoney Daunic ‘24 led off with a walk, Grant Reilly ‘24 singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Dylan Washko ‘24 would lay down a perfect sacrifice bunt, resulting in the BA pitcher throwing the ball wildly to first base. Dylan ‘24 would reach safely, Mahoney ‘24 would come around to score on the error, and Grant ‘24 would advance to 3rd. Andrew Walker ‘26 would follow up with another perfect bunt with a similar BA error, and a USN run scored as a result. With a walk to Carson Darr ‘25, Eli Whelan ‘28 would come to the plate and collect his first career RBI. USN would take the 6-4 lead into the bottom of the 3rd inning. BA would answer back in the bottom of the 3rd and plate two more runs to tie the game again, 6-6. With the score still tied in the top of the 5th, the Tigers would plate two runners after 3 walks and a wild pitch. USN would go on to win 8-7 in an electric back-and-forth contest. Grant ‘24 would lead the Tigers with 3 hits at the plate and earned the win on the mound in a relief effort.
