The Middle School Quiz Bowl team won the Merrol Hyde Magnet School Snow Bowl II, repeating as champions, after winning the first Snow Bowl.

The team sent 27 players on eight teams to the tournament. The team roster included Elliott Carlo ’32, Benjamin Cropsey ’31, Gwen Dudley ’33, Jane Doyle ’33, Gray Ezell ’31, Max Haber ’31, Everett Huffman ’33, Sam Jewett ’32, James Keiper ’31, Mila Kennedy ’32, Avi Kerrigan ’31, Abner King ’33, Walden Li ’33, Lucas Lupu ’31, Edith McLean ’33, Jack Moll ’33, Lily Miller ’31, Sulaiman Moskinzada ’31, Anisha Nachnani ’32, Emily Nicholson ’32, Indy O’Hare ’32, Lucas Roschke ’31, Ekaterina Schreyer ’32, Olivia Sepulveda ’33, Zoey Wei ’31, Stanley Whelan ’33, and Eliana Wolf ’32.

The team achieved huge success despite many challenges. These brave players answered high school-level questions. They were missing many teammates who were ill. The seventh graders had just returned from their trip to Florida. For many, it was their first tournament ever.

With eight teams in the tournament, USN kept facing each other in the playoffs. In the end, Lucas L., Lucas R., and Gray won the championship.

USN had seven of the top ten scorers. Lucas L. led all scorers, averaging more points than all but four teams and more than twice as many as any other player. The tournament also recognized Sam (2), James (5), Zoey (6), Indy (7), Max (8), and Stanley (10).

It took many volunteers to coach all these teams. The team thanks parents Russell McLean, Maria Rivera, Rachel Sobel, teacher Christina Milon, and alumnus Eric Rosenthal ‘15. The team also very much appreciated the support of many, many parents who cheered the players on. They were also pleased to find Head of Middle School Joel Bezaire among the fans.
