USN falls to the Panthers

Two small scoring bursts are the difference in the game
With only a handful of practices under our belts, the Tigers were ready to get in one more competition before fall break.  The game was fairly even, lots of chances on both ends of the field and the teams were sharing possession of the ball.  The aggressive play of our keeper, Josie Vogt '28 was keeping any through balls from becoming dangerous.  Alexandria Manoukian '28 was keeping us in the game at center back, always ready to win a tackle and get a clear.  Ruth Boehler '29 made some great plays from the outside midfield position and gave us some opportunities to score.  At the end of the first half, FRA found an opportunity to shoot from distance and knocked one in.  Within the next minute, they got their second goal and we went into the half down 2-0 in what felt like an even game.

The second half was all USN!  We dominated possession of the ball and had several opportunities to score.  The FRA goal keeper made some solid saves to keep us at bay.  Halfway through the second half, Ruth Boehler had a great through ball to Johnsie Dawkins '28 who was able to get it around their keeper and get us on the board.  2-1!  A small collapse in the last two minutes of the game gave FRA two more goals to make the final score 4-1.  The score did not reflect the feel of the game and gave us a lot to both work on and look forward to!
