Yes, He Really is a Standup Economist

by Vince Durnan

The premise alone is funny enough. There's a PhD economist from the University of Washington (who also teaches at Lakeside, a peer school for USN in Seattle) out on the circuit doing economics-based comedy.

And Yoram Bauman will be right here, on our stage, Monday, April 5 at 5:30.

Stunningly, he is drawing rave reviews, from the Chronicle of Higher Education to YouTube posts. We're hosting, thanks to the generosity of USN alumnus Jon Shayne (famous or notorious as music humorist Merle Hazard), in partnership with USN dad and Owen professor Luke Froeb.

As is our wont, we've invited schools and universities from around the city. Come help us welcome what will certainly be an audience like no other. Yoram will be signing his Cartoon Introduction to Economics--a very nice volume, by the way, immediately after his talk.

There may never have been a more important time for our societal economic IQ to be improving. And at a moment when smiles are in short supply when it comes to the state of the economy, we can buck the trend. Further proof that USN is no ordinary school. Come see what the buzz is about, and you can be home for dinner.
