Bibliophile's paradise puts 10K books within reach

Fall Book Frenzy is University School of Nashville's annual used book and media sale benefiting the Hassenfeld Library. Hours are:
- Thursday, September 25  from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the USN community only
- Friday, September 26 from 12 to 7 p.m. for the USN community only
- Saturday, September 27 from 9 to 3 p.m. This day is open to the general public, and the fill-your-bag sale takes place the last hour at 2 p.m. for $10/bag.

Fall Book Frenzy puts more than 10,000 books and games within affordable reach of the USN community and beyond. A used book-and-media sale, it provides an annual opportunity to fund the school's Hassenfeld Library’s most popular and impactful programing, such as the Author-in-Residence program, third grade book club and Read Across USN Week. It also enables USN to participate in BookBreak, a virtual author visit subscription whose fees allow USN to sponsor a school that could otherwise not fund such valuable literacy and reading appreciation programs.

USN teachers get one bag for free. Other Nashville-area teachers who come on Saturday get special pricing.
 
There are many ways to support and enjoy Fall Book Frenzy:
  1. Donate gently used books, puzzles and games at during morning arrival between now and morning car lines Monday, September 22.
  2. Volunteer during the Fall Book Frenzy “season” here. Shifts are available to:
    1. Collect donations in the morning car lines
    2. Sort, organize, and shelve donations 
    3. Work the sale itself in roles such as replenishing inventory, organizing merchandise and facilitating checkout  
  3. Shop at Fall Book Frenzy between Thursday, September 25 and Saturday, September 27.
  4. Give to Fall Book Frenzy here, should you wish to “round up” or directly fund the effort
  5. Share the news about Fall Book Frenzy by encouraging friends and family to attend.
Fall Book Frenzy takes place in University School of Nashville's Cheek Gym.

USN's main entrance is located in the school's 19th Avenue parking lot. If shopping during while students are on campus for classes and After School, bring your USN ID badge or driver's license and allow time to check in with the receptionist for a visitor's badge.

    Director of Auxiliary Services Rebecca Stokes was given the Summer Programs and Auxiliary Revenue Collaborative’s award for her work including students in the selection of a new playground, transitioning the school bookstore, refining registration systems and processes for summer camps & enrichment activities, and expanding the school’s cultural and holiday celebrations to be inclusive of USN’s diverse student body.

  • Mountain Bike Team Takes on Winged Deer Trails, HS Makes Podium Appearance

    Winged Deer Park and trails in Johnson City hosted our 4th race on Sunday October 11th, and despite a bit of hurricane outwash winds and showers - and reduced team numbers due to fall break and distance from Nashville - our racers utilized all available skills and speed which helped “wing" Sophomore Claire Dehner to a 4th place podium spot, our first podium appearance and medal for the season.

  • HS athletics recaps for September 11-17

    Tiger golfers have officially qualified for the region tournament, and our other teams are not far behind. Volleyball sits near the top of the district, finishing up regular season play next week with Senior Night. Girls soccer continues to hold first place in the district after another 9-0 win, and our cross country runners are chasing after some school records. To round it all out, our mountain bike team traveled to Oakfield to continue to improve on their times for the season. There’s plenty more where that came from- so be sure to come out to the River Campus, Sperling Gym, or out on the road to cheer on our Tigers before their seasons end.

    Middle School volleyball and tennis teams are nearing the final games of their seasons, with the competition heating up while the Tigers play to determine their HVAC rankings. Cross country was finally able to race at the River Campus despite the heat, and our mountain biking team traveled to Oakfield, Tennessee, for a high-temperature race weekend.
