USN recognized with national, regional PR awards

The independent school earned several awards from the National School Public Relations Association and Public Relations Society of America for the summer 2022 campaign to introduce Director Amani Reed as the new head of school.

The Nashville Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America gave University School of Nashville five regional public relations industry awards during its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, August 29 at GEODIS Park. USN earned trophies for its work in introducing Amani Reed as its new Director in the categories of Reputation & Brand Management and Internal Communication and for the videos “Trust During Transition,” “Amani Reed, A Profile,” and “Student Roundtable.”

In summer 2022, Amani Reed joined USN as its 11th Director and the first person of color to lead the K-12 educational institution founded as Peabody Demonstration School in 1915. Following 14 months of research and planning, the Office of Marketing & Communications launched a two-month campaign for the USN community to become acquainted with him before the school year began through a seven-part video series shared through weekly emails and nine “Meet & Greet” opportunities during what are usually quiet summer months. This outreach to the school’s key publics was accompanied by four earned media placements to share the school’s historic appointment with the greater Nashville community.

PRSA Nashville’s Parthenon Awards recognize exceptional work and thought leadership from the Middle Tennessee public relations community and are bestowed to projects and programs that demonstrate excellence in the public relations profession. This year, more than 200 programs and projects were entered across a broad range of industries and public relations disciplines in Middle Tennessee and judged by public relations professionals in Florida. The highest-scoring programs and projects earn Parthenon Awards. USN was recognized among regional and international public relations agencies and multinational corporations, including Bridgestone Americas, Jack Daniel’s, the Nashville International Airport, and FINN Partners.

The school earned PRSA Awards of Merit in the categories of Media Relations, Newsletters, Events and Observances More Than Seven Days, and Videos for work related to the Incoming Director Campaign. USN also was recognized in July at the National School Public Relations Association’s national conference in St. Louis with a Golden Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding strategic work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing, and engagement. USN earned a glass trophy for the entire Incoming Director Campaign and separate honorable mentions for the branding package and video series.
