University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers Grabs Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat The Webb School Varsity Feet
University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers defeated The Webb School Varsity Feet 2-1 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers batting in the top of the sixth when Joseph Ozenne singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers pitchers struck out eight, while The Webb School Varsity Feet pitchers sat down five.
The Webb School Varsity Feet opened up scoring in the second inning. The Webb School Varsity Feet scored one run on a stolen base.
Townsend Stevenson led things off on the hill for University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over six innings, striking out five.
Jayden Lee led things off on the pitcher's mound for The Webb School Varsity Feet. Lee went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out four. Evan Kirby threw two innings out of the bullpen.
Ozenne, Alexander Peck, and Dylan Washko each collected one hit to lead University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers. University School of Nashville Varsity Tigers was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Washko had the most chances in the field with ten.

Two teams will travel to Chicago to compete in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments Middle School National Championships on Saturday, May 10.

Robert Gibson joined University School of Nashville in November as a School Resource Officer, a certified police officer who is primarily assigned to a school and provides safety and security-related functions, including emergency response, safety training, traffic direction, and patrol functions.
