Steven '34 goes undefeated in first chess tournament

Congratulations to first grade student Steven Yan '34 on an exemplary performance in his first-ever chess tournament.
By Chris Prosser, After School Chess Instructor

Steven Yan '34 emerged undefeated and captured the K-1 first-place title at the Lipscomb Academy K-12 Chess Tournament on Saturday, September 17. The tournament included over 100 students from across Nashville and throughout Middle Tennessee. Steven's accomplishment secured his invitation to the Nashville City Championship in January where we know he will represent University School of Nashville well.

With the help of classmate Caleb Magner '34, USN was the highest scoring team in the K-1 section too, earning the team a first-place trophy.
