COVID-19 tests available for order
USN’s Health Directors share recent coronavirus mitigating efforts from the federal government, a look at local numbers, and what they’re seeing inside the halls of 2000 Edgehill.

As we continue to battle the spread of coronavirus in our hallways and our homes, and especially given the highly transmissible nature of the omicron variant, we’re sharing federal government initiatives aimed and mitigating the virus’ spread, as well as offering a look at the latest happenings at USN.
Beginning Wednesday, January 19, at-home, rapid COVID-19 tests are available for order through the federal government website here. A beta version of the site was live and open for orders on Tuesday, January 18. Each residential household can register to receive four tests for free with no shipping cost, and tests will ship within seven to 12 days of ordering, according to the White House. Additionally, private health insurance companies now are required to cover eight free at-home tests per covered individual per month.
Following the website’s launch, the federal government announced it will distribute 400 million high-quality N95 masks for adults free of charge at thousands of pharmacies and other locations starting soon. This move comes days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its mask guidelines. Three masks will be available per adult, and plans are in the works to make masks available for children in the near future. We will continue to share updates on the aforementioned initiatives and other government-related plans as they are released.
At USN, our numbers have corresponded with the rise in local and regional cases. We continue to see most cases linked to either a household exposure or an exposure outside of school, thanks to our layered mitigation approach. The current scientific data supports that the omicron variant seems to be more transmissible once symptoms appear, so it is more important than ever to keep your student home for signs of illness and test for COVID-19 to be sure. We continue to do our best to help arrange testing whenever possible.

Spring sports season ends with podium finishes, trophies
The girls lacrosse team ended its season in overtime to become state runner-up. Tennis players Carter Kojetin '29 finished as a state quarterfinalist, Sophie Oliver '26 and Mary Kate Adler '28 finished as state semifinalists, and Veer Kodali '29 and Max Parker '29 finished as state champions. Meanwhile, eight runners competed at the state track and field meet in Knoxville, where Griffin Davidson '27, Caleb Freifeld '28, Drew Zwerner '28, and Jack Fruin '27, sprinted to first in the 4x800m relay and Jack also placed first in the 800m dash.Read More -

Middle School Quiz Bowl competes at national championship
The Middle School Quiz Bowl finished off another successful season with a trip to the Middle School National Championship Tournament in Chicago. The team fought hard and ended the season as a top-100 program in the country, finishing 75th overall. Congratulations to the team on a great performance and to Lucas Lupu ’31, named an All Star for being the fifth-highest scorer nationwide.Read More
