Preparing to Return
Barring any big surprises or public health directives, we plan to resume classes Tuesday, January 5, picking up where we left off in December. It’s essential for our collective success that you:
- pay close attention in advance to any symptom and heed even the mildest new symptom (shared from the CDC below),
- be aware of any possible exposures,
- seek the benefit of testing as needed (please note these locations and times available in our city for that purpose), and
- keep everyone home if anyone in the family has symptoms until a negative test result is confirmed.
If you’ve traveled, read over the CDC advisories and carefully consider any that apply. The same holds true for any family gatherings over the holidays, whether you traveled or not.

Watch for symptoms
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
We continue to follow the Tennessee Department of Health and CDC guidelines as we ensure proper protocols and preventative measures are in place for COVID-19 infection mitigation. Links to specific guidance can be found at usn.org/HealthTeamFAQ.
