USNA Volunteer Spotlight: Tosha Williams

Read on to get to know a parent with a colorful wardrobe and personality who jumped into school life immediately upon joining the USN community last school year.
By Elena Goss, USNA Volunteer Coordinator

Meet Tosha Williams. She most recently created the fashionable, striped USN face masks that you may have seen gracing faces around campus. Perhaps you own one, too. Here is a bit more about the woman behind the mask:

Names of children at USN and their grades:
Jackson '31 is in Victoria Roca's second grade class, and Christian will start kindergarten in the fall of 2021.

How many years have you been involved at USN?

Jackson started at USN last year in the first grade, so just one.

How are you/have you been involved at USN?
As a new USN family last year, I found that the more I got involved, the more connected I started to feel to the school community. I volunteered as a classroom helper, at the Fall Book Frenzy, and during Artcletic. This year I’m on the Hospitality Committee; I was really excited to help with Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day. I also helped to get the USNA striped fundraiser masks created.

Why do you do it?
I’ve always enjoyed being an active member of our community. We’ve been in Nashville for four years and hadn’t found our village. Helping with USNA has helped me to meet people we now call friends.

Would you do it again?
Absolutely! I also love knowing what’s going on at school. Being that our sons are so young, I see myself being involved for many years to come.

What would you like to see change? Stay the same?
The beginning of the school year grade level gathering was an amazing way for [my husband] JW and me to feel connected to other families, that definitely needs to stay.

Words of wisdom? Piece of advice?
If you’re a new USN family, get involved as quickly as possible. It will change your experience. We have met some incredible friends just by getting involved.

What else do you have going on in your life outside of USN?

I’m an entrepreneur. I created The Pink Retreat, a colorful girlfriend’s weekend getaway that takes place in Florida. If not for COVID-19, I would be incredibly busy right now, but everything’s on hold — for now.
