Daunic Beats the Buzzer to Secure Comeback Win, HVAC Championship

The Tigers got off to slow start, down 8-0, before cashing in on free throw attempts and retaining possession of the ball to begin to build momentum.  USN switched up the defensive plan which proved effective, and the Tigers limited the Mustangs to just six more points to go into the half down by three, 11-14.

The Tigers regrouped during the break, and despite solid playing, the Mustangs also showed their strength to surge ahead 26-19 heading into the fourth quarter. USN continued to battle, however, and willed its way within striking distance as the clock ticked down. After a missed Lipscomb free throw, the Tigers grabbed the rebound and marched down the court with 11 seconds left, trailing by just two.

USN showed true poise on the court, executing the play without rushing and found the open man in Mahoney Daunic '24, who sank a three-pointer as the clock expired to take their first lead of the game, and the victory, 34-33. Khalil Anderson '23 earned the assist on the play.
