Boys XC finishes season as state runner-up

Liv O'Hara '25 (All-State) and Madeleine Wiseman '27 finished top-20 at the cross country state championship, and the boys team — led by a top-10 finish by Drew Zwerner '28 — finished second in the state.

Friday, November 8 was another fine day at the state cross country meet.
 
On the girls’ side, our two runners had strong performances, with Liv O’Hara '25 finishing in 13th place and All-State in her last XC race and Madeleine Wiseman '27 finishing in 20th. 
 
The boys showed their depth in the team race, having the fastest 5th-6th-7th runners in the field, which put enough points on the other teams to solidify the boys’ state runner-up finish. Drew Zwerner '28 was the team’s top finisher in ninth (All-State), and the pack of Griffin Davidson '27, Jack Fruin '27, Clay Payne '25, and Caleb Little '28 closed out the scoring in 18th-24th-25th-27th places. Dylan Omary ran a big PR as our sixth runner, and Caleb Freifeld '28 came off injury and ran exceptionally for having not run in two weeks.

Tennis players Carter Kojetin '29 finished as a state quarterfinalist, Sophie Oliver '26 and Mary Kate Adler '28 finished as state semifinalists, and Veer Kodali '29 and Max Parker '29 finished as state champions. Meanwhile, eight runners competed at the state track and field meet in Knoxville, where Griffin Davidson '27, Caleb Freifeld '28, Drew Zwerner '28, and Jack Fruin '27, sprinted to first in the 4x800m relay and Jack also placed first in the 800m dash.

    Middle School Quiz Bowl competes at national championship

    The Middle School Quiz Bowl finished off another successful season with a trip to the Middle School National Championship Tournament in Chicago. The team fought hard and ended the season as a top-100 program in the country, finishing 75th overall. Congratulations to the team on a great performance and to Lucas Lupu ’31, named an All Star for being the fifth-highest scorer nationwide.
