Hawks unable to take down the BGA Wildcats

Coach Anderson
The Harding Hawks took the field late Wednesday evening to battle the BGA Wildcats. Just three days removed from playing our first game of the season, we looked to garner a victory. Defense was a staple of the game and the Wildcats man defense vs the Hawks stack gap defense would prove to test each team.

The Wildcats were able to put points on the board first with a long touchdown run that left the Hawks searching for some answers. BGA lined up to go for a 2 pt conversion and lineman Charlie Wells (HA) was able to answer with a backfield tackle to limit the damage. Late into the 2nd quarter, the Wildcats were able to convert on a short run to score their 2nd TD and the Hawks once again were able to limit the damage before halftime. Behind, the Hawks entire defense put the clamps on BGA's offense and held the Wildcats scoreless in the second half.

The Hawks went once again to an air attack behind the arm of QB, Bennet Khazanov (USN), to try and bring the game closer. Late in the fourth, the Hawks defense was able to force a fumble, then Khazanov went to work hitting FB, Sawyer Dibble (USN), for a 15 yd gain and then went right back at the Wildcats and connected with WR, Rex Waddey, for a 30yd TD catch. The Hawks closing the scoring gap 6-12, were unable to get any closer as the Wildcats were able to run the clock out kneeling the ball after the onside kick attempt. The Hawks will go on the road for our next game vs Pope Prep for a double header with the Varsity 7/8th grade team.
