USN's 6th grade volleyball B Team beat Lipscomb in an electric 3 sets: 25-19, 20-25, 15-9
In the Tiger's first game of the season the excitement was palpable! The players have been working diligently since the summer and they can finally show what they've been working on! The crowd, the cheers, the noise were all encompassing and the Tiger's delivered! In the first set the Tigers traded servers with Lipscomb, but it was Ryan Ricks '31 and Emma Tillman '31 who led the team to their first set win with four serving aces each! A strong win in a tight set, 25-19.
In the second set the Tiger's began to feel the fatigue and pressure from Lipscomb's serving. The team lost in the second set despite three more aces from Ryan Ricks '31 and some amazing passes from Serena Tanner '31. 20-25 meant that the Tigers would have to dig deep to compete and have a chance to win in the third set.
With amazing crowd support and the team bench going crazy, the Tigers were able to break Lipscomb's serve early and then Ryan Ricks continued her heater and earned another four aces (totaling up to 10 for the match)! Along with great team defense and a final ace from Lily Miller '31, the team clinched their first win of the season 15-9 against Lipscomb, 2-1 for the match!
An awesome first win where the team was able to showcase their 4-2 rotation, their communication, their camaraderie, and their love of the game. The growth of this team will be a sight to behold by the end of the season. Don’t miss their progress and come support this fun, hardworking team! Go Tigers!
