Middle Schoolers finish 4th in book trivia

USN fifth and sixth graders faced off in the annual Tennessee Battle of the Books competition on Saturday, May 4.
By Courtney Brown, MS/HS Instructional Librarian

This year's Tennessee Battle of the Books competition saw 23 University School of Nashville fifth and sixth graders compete for the state crown. The competition saw teams answer trivia questions about the 2023-2024 Volunteer State Book Award nominees. Students read as many of the 20 VSBA books and competed against schools from across the state to recall which book included details like a sun-sickness vaccine tested on a bat or a character who learns to play the accordion.

The competition was fierce, and one of the USN teams made it to the final rounds, where it came in fourth overall. It was a great competition.
