USN announces Interim Director, new Board leadership

Beloved former Admissions Director Juliet Douglas returns for interim leadership role.
University School of Nashville’s Board of Trustees has welcomed Juliet Douglas as Interim Director of the 110-year-old school, following a search process that considered internal and external candidates for the role. As USN’s former Director of Admissions and Financial Aid for nearly three decades, Douglas played an immeasurable role in creating the community and culture for which the school is widely known and respected today. Mrs. Douglas retired from USN in 2023.

“As a proud Tiger, I am honored to step into this role and guide the school as we identify the next leader of USN by July 2026,” Douglas said. “I’m grateful for Head of High School Chai Reddy and the entire leadership team for their support during this period and look forward to connecting with old and new friends who make USN such a unique and special community.”

The USN Board of Trust has also named Dr. Alex Jahangir, an orthopedic trauma surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Nashville community leader its next Board President. Dr. Jahangir is a well-regarded Nashville community leader who has led several nonprofit Boards and chaired the city of Nashville’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is the parent of three USN tigers.

“The Board of Trustees is delighted that Mrs. Douglas will return to USN as our Interim Director,” said Jahangir. “During her long tenure at the school, she epitomized excellence while always striving toward the perpetual growth and open-mindedness that are central to our culture. This is a time of tremendous opportunity for USN as we make bold plans for our future and identify our next Director in service to our incredible community of families.”

Jahangir will be joined on the Board’s executive committee by Erin Zagnoev, Director of Administration & Advancement at The Temple, who steps into the role of Board Vice President. Jim Rieniets, CEO of INSBANK, will remain Board Treasurer, and attorney Robert Perry and Metropolitan Nashville Chief of Operations and Performance Kristin Wilson will serve as Co-Secretaries.
