After three consecutive tournaments of making the top playoff bracket and falling short, USN's quiz bowl team finally broke through to win at the Cookeville Cavalier Invitational.

Emily Wykoff '22, Frederick Rudolph '23, Isaac Spiller '24, Ophelia Cherry-Pulay '25, and Rohan Ramachandran '25 traveled to Cookeville to compete against schools from Tennessee and Kentucky. The squad responded to questions from topics including Civil War history and computational math as well as contemporary hip-hop and the adventures of Don Quixote.

The team started the morning 5-0 in the preliminary bracket and continued its success in the afternoon playoff round with clutch victories over Brentwood, Edmonton, and finally Gallatin to clinch an undefeated 10-0 day and first place.

Additionally, Rohan placed second individually, and Frederick placed 10th. The team’s banner day was USN's first all-subjects tournament victory since 2014, and students' average score of 21.91 points per bonus set a school record. USN qualified for the National Academic Quiz Tournaments Small School National Championship in April and the more prestigious High School National Championship in May. Please congratulate these Tigers for their achievements.
