The Tibbott Center Gallery is pleased to exhibit the drawings and mixed media work of Nashville artist Miranda Herrick.

Herrick was born in Vicenza, Italy in 1977. Her father's military career took her family many places before they settled in Clarksville in the early 1990s. Herrick graduated from Austin Peay State University with a bachelor’s degree in fine art, concentrating in drawing and ceramics. She currently lives in Madison.

Herrick’s drawings are structured geometric patterns that begin with penciled grid lines and grow out with repetitive, pen-and-ink line work that is rendered freehand.

The mixed media work included in the exhibit are equally intriguing. Subdividing the space on a sheet of paper with pen marks evolves into recycling post-consumer aluminum cans fill in blocks of color on wooden panels. Aluminum allows Herrick to create larger designs and gives the shapes and colors a subtext. A careful observer can discover what product these aluminum cans carried before they were re-purposed. Also included in the exhibit will be geometric patterned series of works made using Starburst candy wrappers.

Please join us for an opening reception will be held in the Tibbott Center Gallery from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28 to welcome Herrick and celebrate her work.
