MS Quiz Bowl finishes season with in-person tournament

After a successful virtual season, eighth graders in MS Quiz Bowl closed on the year with intramural play.

Coming off of a successful season that ended at the NAQT 2021 Middle School National Championship Tournament, the eighth grade members of the MS Quiz Bowl Team continued their competition with their first in-person tournament since 2019 — an intramural match, the first ever USN Middle School Quiz Bowl Championship was held on Friday, May 21.

With teammates by their side, instead of on Zoom, and buzzers in hand, the competition was spirited. Students were accustomed to the tough competition after the year's virtual season allowed them to travel to tournaments nationwide to compete against the best teams in the country.

In the end, John Bivens '25, Beckett Dahir '25, Caroline Keiper '25, and Rohan Ramachandran '25 defeated Collin Chan '25, Ophelia Cherry-Pulay '25, and Sam Luffman '25 to win the inaugural Championship. Rohan took home the Bee — the prize for highest scoring individual — with Collin and Caroline finishing second and third, respectively.

The Quiz Bowl team thanks Director Vince Durnan, Head of MS Jeff Greenfield, and Assistant Head of MS Kelicia Cox for watching their tournament.
