Benja Ajang '28 completed the Math Kangaroo math test on March 21 at a local tutoring center in Brentwood. His family learned this week his score placed him 15th in the United States in a field of 5,261 third-grade peers.

“It means so much to our family that he did this well,” said Anna Nyanda, Benja’s mother, adding that he has inspired other children to love math. “Benja has opened doors for many Sudanese children in our community, especially children of Lost Boys who could never believe something like this could happen to one of them. We are extremely proud of his accomplishment."

Nearly 32,000 students in the United States participated in the 75-minute multiple choice test this year. Benja will receive a Certificate of Excellence and National Winner Magnet.
