In the News: River Campus

The picturesque River Campus is featured in the August 2020 edition of SportsField Management magazine. Get River Campus Director Bret Mash talking about the annual transition from ryegrass to bermudagrass, and it turns into a two-page spread.
In a case study provided by Ecologel, makers of CytoGrow, River Campus Director Bret Mash talks about how his crew uses an EPA-registered, seaweed-based root growth biostimulant to accelerate the transition between grasses on athletic fields — 26 of the school’s 80 acres in North Nashville. The case study includes a mention of the entire River Campus team, including Drew Stinson, Ty Johnson, Dillon Anderson, and Brian McLaughlin Williams.

“We do it all here, from the turf care to game prep to irrigation to construction,” Mash told the magazine. “No contractors. We do everything from tree trimming to replacing toilet paper in the bathrooms. I enjoy the work and I think my guys all enjoy the work. We’ve had a lot of success here, in this area and others, because I have a really good crew. We would not have had that success without them. Ownership is a great motivator to get it right.”

  • HS athletics recaps for September 11-17

    Tiger golfers have officially qualified for the region tournament, and our other teams are not far behind. Volleyball sits near the top of the district, finishing up regular season play next week with Senior Night. Girls soccer continues to hold first place in the district after another 9-0 win, and our cross country runners are chasing after some school records. To round it all out, our mountain bike team traveled to Oakfield to continue to improve on their times for the season. There’s plenty more where that came from- so be sure to come out to the River Campus, Sperling Gym, or out on the road to cheer on our Tigers before their seasons end.

    Middle School volleyball and tennis teams are nearing the final games of their seasons, with the competition heating up while the Tigers play to determine their HVAC rankings. Cross country was finally able to race at the River Campus despite the heat, and our mountain biking team traveled to Oakfield, Tennessee, for a high-temperature race weekend.
