Hassenfeld Library offers curbside pickup for books

Our librarians are excited to offer families the chance to request library books and pick them up at school over the summer, starting Tuesday, June 16.
By Kate Pritchard, MS/HS Librarian

To request a book: Log into the library catalog and place a hold on the book, or email your request to Library Assistant Kristin Frank. A library staff member will email you when your book is available and will remind you of when and where to pick it up.

Curbside pickup times will be Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the 19th Avenue entrance. You may also return books at those times. Students and families may not yet enter school buildings. If you cannot come to USN during our pickup times, please let us know and we can make other arrangements.

Books will be due August 21, the Friday of the first week of school. Families may also return books early if they want, during regular curbside pickup times.

Here are the safety measures and procedures you’ll find during the Hassenfeld Library's curbside service for contact-free pickup and return of library materials:
  • Library staff will wear face masks and maintain a social distance.
  • Please place any books to be returned in your trunk in a paper bag. All returned materials are placed in isolation for 72 hours before returning them to circulation
  • Drive up to the main entrance through the 19th Avenue parking lot.
  • Pop open your trunk.
  • Library staff will confirm your name while maintaining social distance through the front passenger side window
  • Library staff will place your requested books (either wrapped in paper or in a paper bag) in your truck and remove any returned books.
Happy reading!
