  • Tiger's Boys Soccer Drop Heartbreaker On The Road

Despite a strong performance the USN Boys Soccer team drop a road game late. The Tigers scored early which led to a powerful first half performance. Senior Thomas Mauries stepped in to win a tackle. He than played a through ball behind the Webb defense to an onrushing Braylin Davis. Davis forced the Webb goalkeeper, who was busy on the night, into a good save to his right, causing the ball to fall to an industrious Atticus Pflaum who calmly Tucked it way in the back of the net. Other than a late push from Webb, USN continued to apply pressure on the opposition box in the first half.

In the second half Webb threw everything forward attempting to make a game of it. The USN defense held stoutly throughout most of the half. USN created a few chances to settle the game, but couldn't quite put it away, with the Webb goalkeeper coming up big. Webb's talented # 7 scored 2 late goals with their 2 best chances of the game to turn the tables on the Tigers. It's heart wrenching to lose one late like that, but it was a promising performance at this early stage of the season against a good team that has developed into a top rivalry.
  • Boys Soccer Begin District Play with a 5-1 Win

The USN Boys Soccer Team won away at Columbia Academy 5-1 on Tuesday night. The Tigers started strong, using the ball well to put pressure on the opponents goal. It was a 4-0 half time score for USN with Senior Eli Galentino leading the way with 2 goals and an assist. Seniors Tré Sheets and Evan Ozgener were highly influential in central midfield, moving the ball quickly into spaces where their teammates could create quality opportunities on goal. The strong backline of Elijah Miller, Thomas Mauries, Mark Luschen and Paulo Saoud kept control of the Columbia Academy dangermen.

Next us is rival Webb School on Thursday at Bell Buckle.
