National Alumni Board of Visitors returns to Nashville

by Anna Myint '04, alumni director & social media manager

Alumni from across the country visited USN last month and will share school updates with alumni who live in their regions.
Fourteen alumni who graduated between the 1950s and the 2010s came together last month for the National Alumni Board of Visitors’ annual meeting. Alumni traveled from San Francisco and New York, and everywhere in between, to visit their alma mater in Nashville.  The purpose of this group is to help alumni stay engaged with the happenings on Edgehill Avenue; they share the excitement back to alumni in their new home regions.

On Sunday, Nov. 12, NABV members had the opportunity to watch the High School musical, “The Theory of Relativity,” in the Auditorium. Following the show, NABV members and local alumni enjoyed dinner and the company of their former teachers at the home of Lisa Turner Greenbaum ’89 and Brad Greenbaum ’87. The evening was an opportunity for everyone to reconnect and for USN to thank alumni for continuing to keep USN a priority in their lives.

On Monday, Nov. 13, the NABV returned to USN for a full schedule of meetings in Payne Library Room. The day began with a presentation on the One School. Our Future campaign results and accomplishments with Campaign Steering Committee Chair Teri Doochin Kasselberg ’73 and Board of Trustees Past President Dave Kloeppel. Other topics on the agenda included a planning update for USN’s future, based on Director Vince Durnan’s educational safari. Division heads Amy Woodson, Jeff Greenfield, and Quinton Walker gave updates on exciting opportunities and programs in their divisions. And USN’s Chief Financial Officer Teresa Standard shared USN’s benchmarks compared to other schools locally and nationally. One of the highlights from the day included a period when the NABV were assigned High School students to shadow in classes that interested the alumni most.

The questions and open discussions were plentiful and the energy was vibrant. It was great having our alumni back on campus. If you are an alumnus and are interested in being a part of the National Alumni Board of Visitors, please contact Alumni Director Anna Myint.
