We have filled 99 new backpacks with school supplies, ready to be distributed at the third annual SE Community Day in Antioch. In addition, we have collected several boxes of supplies and over $600 which will be used to buy additional backpacks and supplies.
We have filled 99 new backpacks with school supplies, ready to be distributed at the third annual SE Community Day in Antioch. In addition, we have collected several boxes of supplies and over $600 which will be used to buy additional backpacks and supplies.
Coach Dee Davis, who began this event in conjunction with Metro Nashville Schools, approached the high school Community Service Club to organize and implement the USN drive. “Last year we gave away 500 backpacks,” Coach Davis said; “this year we hope to give away 1500.”
With the generous support from the USN community, this goal seems likely.

“The drive was really successful, especially since it was our first time doing this, and we were so close to exams,” commented Emma Wuerth ’18, who chaired the event with Marin Kirshner ’18.
High school students gathered to sort supplies and fill backpacks with age-appropriate essentials for different groups. As is customary with our collections, the administrative offices eagerly jumped in to donate, assisting each other in finding the best buy on quality packs.

The Dee Davis Foundation is hosting its third Annual Back to School Community Day Sunday, July 16 from 3:00PM-6:00PM. The 2016 Back to School Community Day event, along with some very generous sponsorships, allowed the second year to be the best year!
“We were able to provide 500 young men and women with school supplies and backpacks, fed up to 700 people, had 40 vendors giving items away and advertising their companies or programs, Blue Cross Blue Shield had a mobile unit come out to provide FREE health screenings to kids, and plenty of family fun/entertainment,” said Davis. “There are so many families in need, and this event was established to help fulfill those needs. Every child deserves to go to school feeling loved and supported, and this community event exists for that very reason. If people want to help, they can contact me directly at (513)225-4205 or dee.davis84@yahoo.com. We have plenty of volunteer opportunities available.”

“USN has done an AMAZING job in getting our school community involved! The entire school has contributed in collecting money/supplies/backpacks, and it has definitely warmed my heart,” Davis continued. "For this school to support me in this way, it has really made me proud to call USN my family. I thank each and every person for their efforts, because with your assistance, I know I will be able to hit my goal! Our Community Service Club made this happen, and I am so very proud of each and every one of those students!”
