USN Falls to Columbia Academy

Tuesday saw USN host Columbia Academy at the River Campus in a rematch from Monday’s game. This time, Columbia would strike first, scoring five runs in the top of the 1st. USN would begin to chip away from the 5-0 lead in the bottom of the inning, plating one run on a single by Alexander Peck ‘25, a double by Grant Reilly ‘24, and a ground-out RBI by Carson Darr ‘25. The Tigers would get two more runs back in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 5-3 on back-to-back walks to Mahoney Daunic ‘24 and Joseph Ozenne ‘24. Eli Whelan would sacrifice both runners into scoring position with a beautifully executed bunt. Andrew Walker ‘26 would collect an RBI on a ground out, and AJ Truss ‘27 would plate the second run on a single. The Columbia offense would be too much to contain as they would answer back with four runs in the 5th and another in the 6th. The Tigers fell 10-4.
