Tigers Draw At Boyd-Buchanan

The Tigers traveled to Chattanooga to take on the back to back state tournament finalists, Boyd-Buchanan. The game finished in a 1-1 draw in a hard fought and highly entertaining affair. Both teams were up for the challenge trying to impose their way upon the other. In the second half The Tigers started to wear on Boyd with their ball usage and movement. A Boyd player picked up his second yellow card, forcing them to play with one less player, after multiple fouls trying to slow down USN. Just after USN got the player advantage an awkward bounce of the ball forced a handball in the Tiger box. Boyd took the lead on the ensuing penalty.

From there USN went forward in numbers to create ample pressure and chances on the Boyd goal. Despite some good chances the Tigers couldn’t quite put one away, until a goal in the final stretch. Senior Elijah Miller’s impressively long throw into the crowded opponent’s six yard box provided the impetus. Numerous USN and Boyd players went up for the ball, led by Senior Mark Luschen, forcing the ball to skim off of the top of a Boyd player's head and past the goalkeeper and into the goal. Tying the match at 1-1. The Tigers weren’t quite done, creating two good chances, including a volley from the top of the box that slipped just wide of the Boyd post as the final whistle blew.
