Tigers Fall Short In Season Opener
On a beautiful Spring day, the Tigers opened their season visiting Harpeth Middle School. The Tigers jumped to an early lead as Adrian Hufford started the season with a solid single and came around to score due to his aggressive base running. The Tigers led going into the third inning as they continued hitting and running well coupled with good team defense and pitching from Oliver Stahl. Harpeth’s hitting came alive in the bottom of the third and was assisted by a few first game defensive jitters. They went ahead 5-3. The Tigers scored again in the fifth inning as Ellis Masic ripped a lead off single up the middle and pitch runner Caleb Freifeld took advantage of a Harpeth error to come around from first to score making the game 5-4. The Tigers didn’t score in their top of the 6th inning and as the sun began to set Harpeth put together timely hits along with shaky Tiger defense and scored 5 as the time ran out. Overall, a promising first game with lots of good things to build upon. Final score was Harpeth 10, USN 4.
