Tuesday, November 29, the HS bowling team headed to Smyrna Bowling Center for the regional tournament. The team began by bowling Donelson Christian Academy in the first round, and both teams had some successes and struggles in the team game. The Tigers were fortunate to be victorious in the team game 5-3 on the strength of Frederick Rudolph's '23 big 247 game; this was also his highest game in a school match ever. The team went into the Baker games with good momentum, and started fast, winning the first game with a nice 171 game. The next few games were more of a grind, but USN was able to find a way to win each one, locking up the match and a date with Pope Prep immediately after the conclusion of the first match.

The team went into its match against Pope Prep feeling good, and knowing that if it won this match it would qualify for the state tournament.  However, the Knights had other plans, as they came out with a huge 1306 team game; this was the highest game USN bowled against all season. Frederick led with a 181, but the Tigers could not match Pope Prep's firepower. USN went into Bakers rounds with a fresh mindset, and started out winning the first game by 40 pins. However, the team narrowly lost the second Baker game thereby losing the match and berth in the state championship to Pope Prep.

We had an amazing season, with several terrific accomplishments from individual bowlers, and I think it is fair to say that all our bowlers improved. This group has been a true joy to coach, and I am hopeful that the person who takes over the program can have just as good of a time coaching as I do. Thank you to all of my bowlers for a great season, and to all the families for working out the logistics that allow these students to participate.
