HS Sustainability Board encourages sustainability ahead of Earth Day

In the days leading up to Earth Week, April 18-24, High School students learned about ways to become more sustainable individually.

Greta Matthies '22 and William Grobmyer '22 led the High School community by showing educational videos, initiating thought-provoking discussions, and challenging students to make small efforts to be more environmentally friendly. The programming was focused on food choices, transportation, fast fashion, waste reduction, food deserts, and environmental justice.

The High School's Sustainability Board challenged High School students to go without eating meat for a day, limit travel, wear thrifted clothes, go waste free, and considering buying locally sourced food. Students were asked to discuss personal solutions to systemic problems such as the meat industry and the fast-fashion industry, as well. More, the students discussed local problems, such as the lack of healthy, organic food in our Edgehill community. 

Thursday, April 22 is Earth Day. The Sustainability Board encourages all USN families to discuss and reflect on the changes they can make to become more sustainable.
