Girls Crowned Champions, Boys Finish Runner-Up at Region Meet

Our garnet and blue-clad student-athletes did us proud with a display of competitiveness and poise on Friday night at FRA. State meet berths and team scores were on the line and we came home with a GIRLS Team Championship and a BOYS Team Runner-Up. The best ever in Tiger track and field history!!
 
Every team member across all disciplines contributed to the outcome by posting a PR and by supporting and encouraging each other all evening.
 
GIRLS - Region Champions included - Morayo Kassim 100m / 200m 1st  with new meet records; 4x200m relay (Chloe Bruce, Izzy Lutes, Kailey Nichols, Morayo Kassim); 4x800m relay (Eden Horton, Latham Hall, Abby Schoenecker, Mia Owen). Runner-Up included - 4x400m relay (Mia Owen, Eden Horton, Izzy Lutes, Chloe Bruce). 
 
BOYS - Region Champions included - Jordan Turner 110m HH; Pelham Bergesen 800m. Runner-Up included - Timmy Hays 1600m, Neil Narayanan 800m, 4x400m relay (Jonathan Ghertner, Neil Narayanan, Pelham Bergesen, Josh Scretcchen); 4x800m relay (Wilson Berry, Tate Keuler, Neil Narayanan, Pelham Bergesen); J Turner 300m IH.
 
All the athletes listed above have automatically qualified for the state meet, and now we await results from the East and West regions for provisional qualifiers, and it could be the podium finishers listed below. ** Field events were posted earlier in the week.
 
Girls and Boys - Podium finishers included - Chloe Bruce 3rd 100m; Brooke Burgess 3rd 300m IH; Mia Owen 3rd 800m; Kylie Cook 4th 300m IH; Nick Sieders 3rd 1600m; and Jonathan Ghertner 4th 400m. 
 
Our word of the night was FIGHT and our Tiger's demonstrated a competitiveness on another level. Nick Beem 1600m, Piers Mason 3200m, Brooke Burgess 300m IH, Eden Horton 4x8, 400, 4x4 and Josh Scretchen 4x400m relay, exemplified the grit that coaches dream about!!
 
Now for the biggest PARTY of the year!! MTSU awaits many teams and athletes for three days of the finest track and field in the state.
