Swimming
We did have some swimmers who had their first USN meet! Welcome to the team, Jane Doyle, Tommy Horst, Andres Mery, Margaux Soslow, and Hudson Unger! You tackled each challenge with aplomb, and every race that you swam was a PR!
In our third competition opportunity, we had plenty of swimmers take on something new! Ella Murdock did fly on a relay, Reya Roydid her first 200 free, Griffin Johnson and Rosie Hauser both raced the 160 IM (though both have done a 200 IM), and Avery Horst completed her first 100 fly. We also saw a lot of swimmers in their first 100 backs (Panambi Edmonds Cuellar, Adelaide Dervan, Eliana Wolf, Elise Jahangir, Laith Storey, Riley Kapp, Edwin Nelson) and 100 breasts (Aria Webber, Emma Tillman, Olivia Dozier).
The USN pool can be known for PRs because of the extra wall in the 100s. We saw plenty of faster swims today!

160 IM: Eliana Wolf improved 10 seconds! (2:46.83)

100 Back: Ella Murdock dropped a crazy 7 seconds (1:50.35) while Samantha Shaba and Caldwell Adams each dropped an impressive 5 seconds (1:31.03 and 1:40.73). Brooks Lukach, Syra Bangalore, and Carter Vanatta each improved two seconds (1:22.59, 1:36.06, and 1:39.24 respectively). Ian Drewry and Isaac Karpinos each cut another second off (1:07.72 and 1:32.29 respectively). Lucy Drewry was exact to her PR (1:30.51).
100 Breast: Sadie Magner and James Keiper took their times down by a crazy 11 seconds (1:46.07 and 1:35.84). Lena LeClere and Reya Roy each shredded off five seconds (1:31.98 and 1:50.23). Beste Erdemir improved almost two seconds (1:24.06) while Griffin Johnson took off one (1:22.31). Rosie Hauser and Neel Sinha shaved off a smidge (1:38.23 and 1:51.56).

Basketball
Our middle school basketball teams have been hard at work starting their season. 6th grade teams participated in the Overbrook Classic Tournament, playing different teams over the course of the week. The 6th grade girls played a strong game Monday, winning 27-5. The 6th grade boys played that night as well, pushing hard but ultimately falling 38-10. On Tuesday, the 6th grade boys team found themselves in a matchup with Covenant. Using their experience from the prior game, they worked to put more points on the board, but sadly came out with a loss of 44-22. December 9th, the 6th grade Boys A team stepped up their game to win 38-16. Wednesday night, we had more back to back Overbrook Classic Tournament games with 6th grade girls using all of their energy to beat Grace Christian Academy 26-6, and the 6th grade boys A team falling short 31-18 against GCA.
While the 6th grade teams were away on Tuesday, the 7th & 8th grade teams hosted three games in the Cheek Gym versus St. Matthew School. JV Boys were up first, and they set the tone for the night with a win! With a final score of 29-22, their hard work practicing clearly paid off. Varsity Girls were next, playing tough to win 44-11. They played great defense, meshed well as a team, and put in the work to win by 33 points. Varsity Boys took the court next, playing more confidently and applying the skills they’ve been learning in practice. They ended with a loss of 36-32, just four points shy of the win.
