Congratulations to our cross country teams as they wrapped up their seasons at the state championship in Memphis and to the boys bowling team for defeating Ensworth.

For the first time ever, the Tennessee state championships were held in Memphis, but some things remain the same - USN Tigers near the front of the field.
The short version: the boys, led by All-State performances from Jack Fruin and Griffin Davidson and bolstered by more depth than any other team, finished as State Runners-Up! For the girls, Madeleine Wiseman was also All-State and Jackie Seale ran well despite recent illness.
The boys were the first to toe the line, and despite a season of setbacks and obstacles, were resolute and optimistic. With five of the fifteen competing teams each having a chance for the top spot, the race was wide open, and all the top teams had a few runners near the front - Jack and Griffin would both finish in the top 10. But it was USN’s depth - led by Drew Zwerner gamely competing despite respiratory illness - that made the difference. Caleb Freifeld, Caleb Little, and James Little all moved up multiple places in the second half to secure a narrow three-point margin over third place. Mario Tedeschi also finished in the top half of the field in his final HS race.
Madeleine was well-positioned inside the top 10 all race, and she, despite being stuck between lack of runners ahead and behind, managed her efforts well and even in isolation ran a great race. Jackie was tucked into a large pack of runners from the top schools and did a wonderful job competing with them, culminating in a strong finish.
Bowling
The boys bowling team picked up their first win of the season against Ensworth in the only match for either team. The boys held a slim lead in pinfall after the American Games despite only winning a third of the head to head matchups. Charlie Hall ‘26 and Jackson Green ‘25 led the way with two wins each and high games of 154 and 145 respectively. The match was decided in the first Baker Game with the USN team extending their pinfall lead to 50 pins as they put up an impressive 131 team score. Both teams will be in action on Tuesday at Hermitage Strike and Spare against Pope Prep.
Congratulations to our cross country teams as they wrapped up their seasons at the state championship in Memphis and to the boys bowling team for defeating Ensworth.
