There’s some exciting news within USN’s Ultimate Frisbee program.

Each year, we host the River Campus Classic tournament that brings competing teams from Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

This year, working with USA Ultimate, our tournament will be recognized as a national qualifier. The winner automatically goes to the national championship, raising the status of our tournament to the national level. Now, USN will host teams competing from North Carolina, Utah, Ohio, Arkansas, Colorado, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

The River Campus Classic tournament will be held on April 6 and Sunday, April 7.  We encourage you to attend and support our student-athletes, who call themselves “Brutal Grassburn.”

Here’s some information that you should know about Ultimate:
  •  Both our girls and boys teams won the state championship in 2023.  This was the third year in a row for the girls.
  • Several of our Ultimate graduates are competing at the college level.
  • We have an annual Ultimate Reunion each Thanksgiving weekend that brings at least 50 former and current players to River Campus for a fun scrimmage.
  • Our sport creates a strong community shown not only by our annual reunion but also within our teams.
Come and see what we’re about at our River Campus Classic. USN’s boys and girls teams are expected to play between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7.  If you want to see what we’re all about and interested in playing, contact Fifth Grade Science Teacher and Ultimate Coach Tobey Balzer ’02.
