USN hosts Battle of the Books

USN hosted teams from area middle schools to compete in a trivia competition over the VSBA book selections.
By Courtney Brown, MS/HS Instructional Librarian

On Saturday, May 3, middle school teams from USN, Harpeth Hall, and FRA met at USN to battle knowledge of the 20 VSBA (Volunteer State Book Award) nominees at the Battle of the Books. Students formed teams, read as many of the VSBA books as they could, and then studied trivia related to the books to compete against each other.

In years past, competition was mostly held through Zoom, but USN hosted teams to an in-person showdown this year. Each team performed well, but the final rounds saw four teams from USN compete. The winning team beat out the competition by one point. The members of the winning team were Emma Tillman ‘31, Maddie McKnight ‘31, Emma Harris ‘31, Charlotte Burgener ‘31, and Eva Tanquilut ‘31.
