Stingy BGA gives USN a tough game at home

Will Mantlo
Anyone who made it out Friday night to Sperling Arena definitely got their money's worth. The Tiger's hosted a very tough, well-coached team from BGA in the last game before the New Year. The Tiger's were able to jump on their opponent early with great half court execution on offense. At the end of the first the Tiger's had built a 13-6 lead. BGA decided to open the second half playing a 1-3-1 zone, something the Tiger's have not seen all year. When BGA went into the zone Drew Dibble began a shooting clinic as his teammates continued to find him open in the corner, but when the buzzer sounded the Tiger's were only up two at half. When the third quarter began BGA came out in a box in one on Drew. The Tiger's took some time to rest and to figure out how they wanted to attack the third defense they had seen that night. It was a low scoring quarter that ended with both teams deadlocked at 28. In the final quarter it went back and fourth until Myles Hamilton connected on back-to-back floaters down the middle of the lane, along with 3 of 4 free throws to ice it. The Tiger's were able to pull out a hard fought victory led by Drew Dibble's 4 of 5 performance from beyond the arc. The Tiger's have a week of practice and studying to look forward to before break and the next game that is January 10 at DCA.
