Beating the Odds

The district tournament has finally come. The Tigers were seeded 4th out of 7 teams. The first round of the tournament is a must win to continue, so the Tigers knew the pressure was on. For the first game, USN competed against the Davidson Academy Bears. Beating the Bears earlier in the season was a step up, however, it was a very tough match for the Tigers winning only by 2 points in the 5th set.

As the tournament started, the Bears jumped out to a strong start beginning the match with two wins (23-25 and 21-25). The third set would determine if the Bears would take home the win or prove that the Tigers had more fight in them. USN showed the heart and desire not to give up. The Tigers went on to win the next three sets (25-17, 25-14, 15-4)! The amount of determination that the Tigers showed was unbelievable. Winning the first round game of the district tournament is an accomplishment that the Tigers had not done in over 6 years.
