Eight USN swimmers represented the Nashville Aquatic Club and Excel Aquatics, competed with the fastest swimmers in Tennessee, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle at the Southeastern Swimming Championships.

Michael Ng ’11 scored in the championship finals in three events.  He finished 3rd in the 200 backstroke, 4th in the 200 butterfly, and 8th in the 100 backstroke.  All three swims were lifetime bests, and his 100 backstroke time was faster than his own USN school record (but will not be recognized because it was swum outside of high school competition).

Erika Giuse '16 also excelled in the backstroke events.  Swimming in the 11-12 girls age group, she won the 50 and 100 backstroke, and also scored points in the 200 IM (4th), 500 freestyle (7th), and 100 butterfly (8th).  She also joined with three NAC teammates to break a 30 year-old Southeastern Swimming record in the 11-12 girls’ 200 medley relay.

Nicholas Ng '14 also swam in the championship finals, finishing eighth in the 13-14 boys 200 butterfly.

Other outstanding performances were turned in by Mark Rusnak (13-14 boys), Elena Escalas (13-14 girls), Kate Capizzi (11-12 girls), Marina Escalas (10 and under girls), and Margaret Luffman (10 and under girls).
