USN faculty, students make headlines

Several faculty and students have been featured in publications and broadcasts this fall.
Marking the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, Knoxville’s ABC-affiliate WATE interviewed Third Grade Teacher Ellie Blue and Kian Jain ’34 about Lower School’s Jump-A-Thon that raised $26K for Del Rio Elementary.

Director of College Counseling Aaron Fulk and Middle School Educational Technologist Kari Luecke spoke to The Ledger about the cross-curriculum STEM lessons and strong faculty support USN offers students through creative projects like 3D modeling Roman structures in Latin class, independent studies, and research opportunities with Vanderbilt University.


Civil engineer and businesswoman Cheryl McKissack Daniel '79 has written a memoir that builds on her family’s 200-year history in construction. It touches on her experience of being among the first Black students at Peabody Demonstration School.

High School English Teacher Michael Hansen published an article on using video games in English in the National Association of Independent Schools' "Education Innovations at Independent Schools from Around the World."
