Student-athletes sign with Lake Forest, Kenyon

The Class of 2026 has added two names to its list of student-athletes who plan to continue their athletic career at the collegiate level. Before their families, friends, teachers, and coaches, Jordan Brod-Glinter and Andrew Walker ’26 shared their thoughts on the college recruiting process and how they chose which colleges they will attend to play golf and baseball, respectively.

Andrew, a dedicated baseball player since age five, chose Kenyan College in Ohio after a rigorous recruiting process that began in his junior year. His parents and coaches highlighted his resilience, love for the game, and consistent hard work.

“He’s a kid that is resilient and loves to play the game,” said his dad Mitch Walker, who shared that Andrew would sneak onto the River Campus to practice in the batting cage after hours and how he endured double hip surgery to rehab quickly and not miss a season. “We've been out before dawn at innumerable games. I look forward to watching you play at the level that you've dreamed of since you were a little boy and living your dream realized. Thank you to everyone for coming here to celebrate today with Andrew.”

Jordan, a talented golfer, selected Lake Forest College in Illinois after a summer of intense recruiting and working persistently through showcases.

High School Math Teacher and Golf Coach Justin Fitzpatrick praised Jordan’s dedication, even in extreme weather conditions, and outstanding team spirit, which made him not only a strong competitor but also a supportive and inspiring teammate.

“Here's an individual who will go out when it's 10 degrees. Jordan would go to the range, and he'd practice for hours. He practiced in the rain, he practiced in the cold. I just really admired that dedication,” Fitzpatrick said. “Golf is a very individual game, and Jordan was always asking how his teammates were doing, coming to me with ideas, with things that you could do as a team that would help everybody. I just so greatly appreciated that he cares so much about the team and that he wanted other people to come pretty involved to the same degree.”

Athletic Director Josh Scouten, who coached both students as Middle School golfers, congratulated them on their accomplishments, acknowledged the significance of their achievements within the school community, and celebrated the support from their family and other coaches. 

The signing ceremony took place Tuesday, January 20 in the Durnan Auditorium. Earlier this month, Maeve Stevenson '26 signed to play volleyball for Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
